Rock Climbing

" Southwest Utah is a veritable dog's breakfast of rock climbing opportunities."

- Todd Goss

And Brian Head has a few choice spots to check out. The routes at the Overlook at Sydney Valley Peak range from vertical pockets and cracks to wild arêtes and short steep faces. The harder climbs feature one and two-finger pockets seemingly made for pulling on. Climbs range from 5.8 - 5.13. Todd Goss writes "With a spectacular view of the Parowan Valley and the smell of conifers in the air, the fact that we can also climb here often seems too good to be true."

Though only 50 to 60 feet in height, the Running Scared Wall (aka Ravens Crag) north of Brian Head makes up for its diminutive height by offering a variety of grades as well as styles of climbing from cracks to dihedrals to faces and arêtes. Climbs range from 5.5 to 5.12.
